Senior communications professional with nearly 20 years experience developing and implementing effective strategy and messaging across key audiences, including external, internal, media, marketing, digital and social media channels. Extensive experience in creating corporate narratives, establishing and promoting its reputation. Leader in effective issues and crisis preparedness, crisis management and mitigation. Managed campaigns in multiple areas including public and government affairs, mergers and acquisitions, corporate defense and investor relations. Brand builder, story-teller, devoted client partner, collaborator, co-conspirator and business driver. Experience in a broad array of industries in both the corporate and agency environments.

• Issues and Crisis Management: Joe has extensive experience with a broad range of special situations across industries, including: executive change management, operational issues, product recalls, government and regulatory investigations and litigation.
• Corporate Reputation Management and Public Affairs: Joe has provided strategic communications counsel and support to U.S. and international companies across multiple industries. Joe helps companies advance their business objectives by working to raise their corporate profile, enhance relationships with key stakeholders and improve overall business performance.
• Mergers and Acquisitions and Shareholder Activism: Joe has advised companies in M&A transactions, merger proposals, and in defense of unsolicited proposals. Previous assignments included: Allergan in its defense against unsolicited proposal from Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Pershing Square Capital, Reynolds American acquisition of Lorillard, and Halliburton’s proposed acquisition of Baker Hughes.

Joe’s professional career began in politics. He served as the Executive Assistant to the Director of the National Economic Council, Gene Sperling, in the West Wing of the White House under the Clinton Administration. He then served as the Issues Director for Rahm Emanuel’s successful campaign for Congress in the 5th District of Chicago, IL in 2002. He also worked in Washington, D.C., as aide to former White House Chief of Staff John D. Podesta. Joe graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
