2020 was a significant year for special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) transactions, and 2021 is trending in the same direction. Whether companies pursue SPACs or traditional IPOs, they often call on public relations experts to help them effectively communicate their story and put their company in the best light possible.
In 2020, ICR advised on more than 50 SPAC transactions, which represents about 20 percent of the total market. Recently, two ICR executives were recognized for their expertise and experience in these transactions. Based on publicly available information, original reporting and nominations, Business Insider recognized ICR’s Don Duffy and Bob East as two of the top 18 public relations pros working in IPOs and SPACs today.
ICR President Don Duffy oversees all SPAC accounts at ICR and has advised on more than 250 IPOs, SPACs, and direct listings in the past 10 years. This includes 80 SPACs from January 2020 to March 2021, which collectively raised more than $100 billion in capital.
Bob East, managing partner and co-head of ICR’s healthcare practice, ICR Westwicke, has led communications and investor relations efforts for dozens of IPOs and SPACs over the past three years.
As SPAC transactions continue to grow in popularity, companies will need seasoned public relations and investor relations professionals to effectively position their companies in the eyes of investors.
