This year’s annual Bio€quity Europe, being heldfrom May 12 to 14, 2024, will see financial dealmakers and biopharma executives meet rising biotechs in San Sebastián, Spain, Basque Country, one of the culinary capitals of the world, to discuss how companies can rise above the noise to attract the right investors, partners, and talent.
Last year’s event, held in Dublin, Ireland, was the best-attended event in the history of the forum and saw representatives from across the life sciences sector commiserate on the uncertain funding environment and a world of much higher bars to clear for successful financings.
This year with the IPO window cautiously inching open in the US at least, we can expect companies to be limbering up for poll position for a potential opening of European markets and keeping the faith that their time is coming.
A number of US life sciences and healthcare companies have come to market in the first quarter, including Metagenomi, Telomir Pharmaceuticals, Kyverna Pharmaceuticals, Fractyl Health and ArriVent Biopharma, instilling some much-needed confidence in the sector after the battering that the past two years has inflicted on public biotech companies. Although after-market performance has been mixed, the IPO window is now unequivocally open again in the US but to date Europe has lagged, so observers in the sector will be keeping a keen eye on signs of revitalization.As usual there will also be a blend of panel discussions, with topics ranging from how to derisk investment in dementia to how to maximise talent acquisition, with high-quality networking.
