Principal for Latin America, Governance & Shareholder Advisory

Mónica Jiménez is a seasoned corporate leader and lawyer recognized for guiding organizations through complex governance, regulatory, and reputational challenges. As Principal for Latin America within ICR’s Governance & Shareholder Advisory practice, she brings more than two decades of experience across Latin America and Canada, helping companies strengthen governance frameworks, enhance stakeholder confidence, and align corporate purpose and long-term strategy across multiple jurisdictions. Her approach combines strategic vision with sound judgment and a deep understanding of risk, resilience, and long-term value creation.

Before joining ICR, Mónica served as Chief Strategy, Sustainability & Legal Officer at GeoPark Ltd., where she led the company’s integrated governance, sustainability and compliance architecture, aligning strategic objectives, risk management, and stakeholder trust. Previously, as Vice President of Corporate Affairs and General Secretary at Ecopetrol S.A., she designed and implemented one of Latin America’s most comprehensive governance and stakeholder management frameworks, supporting the company’s transformation into a diversified energy group while preserving its credibility and long-term value.

Earlier in her career, Mónica practiced law at leading Canadian firms, advising on cross-border transactions and international arbitration before transitioning to senior executive roles in the energy sector. She currently serves on the boards of Cencosud S.A. and Grupo Bolívar S.A. and has previously served on boards across energy, infrastructure, retail, and mining sectors, and is a former member of the International Chamber of Commerce Court of Arbitration (ICC Court). She continues to serve as an independent arbitrator in international disputes.

Mónica holds a law degree from Universidad de Los Andes, postgraduate studies in Civil Liability and Damages from Universidad Externado de Colombia, and a master’s degree in Economic Development from the London School of Economics (LSE). A bilingual professional, she is widely recognized for her strategic judgment, cross-border insight, and commitment to transparent, ethical, and resilient corporate leadership.
