There’s no one single way to disseminate company news. In some instances, you’ll need to file a Form 8-K, the disclosure from the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC). Other times, you’ll need to issue a press release. Occasionally, the news will necessitate filing both. The checklist below outlines the differences between an 8-K and a press release so you can easily determine which mode of disclosure is appropriate for your news.
